What Sub-Zero Warranty Paperwork Actually Looks Like in 2026

Sub-Zero warranty claim processing in 2026 is stricter than it was five years ago. Photo documentation, serial-traceable parts, and install-date proof are non-negotiable. Here's exactly what goes into a defensible claim packet.

Every covered Sub-Zero call we run produces a four-document packet: a photo of the model plate (legible enough to read all serial digits), a photo of the serial plate (separately), a copy of the homeowner's install date proof (original receipt or dealer paperwork), and the OEM part traceability tag from the part we installed.

The model plate is the easy one. The serial plate is where most claims fail — on integrated columns it's tucked behind the toe-kick and on built-ins it's inside the cabinet near the top hinge. We photograph both at every service visit, regardless of whether we expect the call to need warranty.

Install-date proof is the homeowner's responsibility but we coordinate it. If the original receipt is gone, Sub-Zero will accept dealer registration records — but that requires the homeowner to have registered at install time, which only about 60% do. We've started pushing registration on every install we touch.

Part traceability is the easiest piece because we only pull through authorized distribution. Every shipment includes a tag with the part number, the order number, and the originating distributor. We staple that tag to the work order and photograph it for the file.
