Induction cooktops live and die by the touch glass and the inverter board. Both are expensive parts ordered through authorized distribution — neither rides the van. Which means correct diagnostics matter: an inverter board ordered on a hunch and not needed is a four-figure mistake.
We test inverter boards with a real inductive load attached, not just bench continuity. The board pretends to work under no load and fails under cookware. The diagnostic procedure takes an extra fifteen minutes and saves the wrong-part call back.
Gas cooktops are simpler. Sealed-burner spark and re-ignition issues are usually orifice, venturi, or a wet spark module — same family as the range work. Common parts in stock, first-visit close-out is the norm.
