Sub-Zero standalone ice makers (UC-15I, UC-15IP) and the built-in ice machines in the 700-series live a hard life. They cycle constantly, run on local water that's anywhere from medium-hard to scale-forming, and most homeowners forget they exist until production drops.

Slow production is almost never the compressor. It's the condenser blocked by dust and pet hair, the water inlet valve partially fouled by scale, or the ice-thickness sensor reporting late. We check all three on every slow-production call before we even open the parts catalog.

On coastal installs — anywhere east of the Intracoastal — the inlet valve sees enough salt-laden ambient humidity that the solenoid corrodes faster than it should. We carry valves for the UC-15I family on the van for that exact reason.
