Ice makers run continuously in most homes, which means wear accumulates faster than on the refrigerator side. Slow production and no-ice are the two complaints we hear and they almost always trace to one of three components — condenser airflow, water inlet, or sensor.
On coastal installs the inlet valve corrodes faster than the spec lifespan suggests; we stock those for UC-15I and UC-15IP on the van. The ice-thickness sensor we test against a calibrated reference before replacement.
